For a toddler who's still figuring out the laws of gravity, balloons are the stuff of magic. August is just obsessed when she sees balloons. I never noticed how many balloons were in the world until August became hell bent at identifying each one. There are balloons at car lots, grand openings, Trader Joe's, malls, Safeway, Walgreens, Good Night Moon, Good Night Gorilla, and over 90% of all kid's books. And even though the giant 76 gas station logo is not a balloon, I don't have the heart to tell her. When August sees another kid holding a balloon, she can barely stand it. She tells me over and over that there's a balloon until I lead her away. She's also excited about babies, but they're definitely a distant second place.
