bad mama

By Chinese standards, I'm a bad mom. Over dim sum this weekend, this was helpfully pointed out to me by a Chinese wife of a friend who is my age but has no kids. She said that the Chinese expect their kids to be quiet and obedient and she would have had a lot more fun if she'd been brought up in the more indulgent atmosphere of an Indian household. Apparently, I'm running an Indian household. Who knew?
