ice cream, books and ponytails

[At Pasta Pomodoro, August is the only one eating dessert. She's eating ice cream with gusto.]
Connie: Mama & Dada don't have any ice cream. Only August gets ice cream.
[August throws down her spoon in surprise.]
August: We need to ask that man for more ice cream.
Anand: No, Mama & Dada don't want any ice cream.
August: [lifts her spoon to me] Want to share?

[As we're heading from Pasta Pomodoro to Borders Bookstore]

August: I'm going to the bookstore! I love bookstores.
Anand: Hmm, that was grammatically correct.

[At home, I give August two ponytails that stick straight up, Asian style]
Connie: Go to the mirror and see how pretty you look.
August: [runs to the mirror and beams] I look like Sky! [Sky is her stylish Japanese friend from school]
